District 3 Kin – Make a
Difference
December 2009
Family of Kin
Happy December, fellow Kin. You don’t need me to tell you winter is
here. None of us needs to further
discuss the sadness that was Grey Cup.
(Non-Rider fans, save it. That means you, Vinnie.)
Business first:
-
District Dues are due December 15th.
-
Insurance forms were due to Kin HQ November 15th.
-
If your club received The Letter from HQ, your Incorporation
forms need doing.
Come
on, District 3 – get the paperwork out of the way so we can get on to the FUN
stuff. (Since we’re better at that…)
Fun stuff:
-
November was another GREAT month in District 3. The Melfort Kinsmen managed to surprise Uzzi
(Dwayne Usselman) with a Life Membership.
He has had PERFECT attendance for SIXTEEN years. THAT’S what dedication to Kin looks like.
-
The Regina Cystic Fibrosis Chapter held their Ladies’ Night Out Gala. Wonderful
event, and lots of money raised for CF.
-
The Saskatoon Kinsmen kindly invited Megan (Zone D Deputy
Governor) and I out to their installation night. VERY fun evening, Past
President Zipp did a great job of organizing it.
-
Several of us travelled to Kindersley on November 28th
for their Zone Social. We bowled, broke
finger nails (and knees), laughed and generally had a really good time. Well done to DGs Denise and Sheena for
organizing this.
Upcoming stuff:
-
District Convention will be held in
Watrous June 11-12th, 2010 at Manitou Mineral Spa and Hotel. The Kinettes have set aside a block of rooms
and the hotel is asking that we call and reserve them in early January. When you call, advise
that you are with the Kinettes – the hotel may ask for a small deposit which
will be returned if you are unable to attend.
I know June seems like a long way away, but of course EVERYONE is coming
to District Convention. Right?
The number is 1-800-667-7672.
-
Darren Ulmer (POW City Kinsmen) is
being awarded his Life Membership on January 23rd. More details to come.
-
National President
Sean Thompson is planning to come to Telemiracle 34 March 6 and 7 and is
hoping to do a mini-tour of District 3 while he is here. If your club is interested in hosting the
National President, please email me at corieruzickaolson@sasktel.net
and we will set up an itinerary.
-
Last but far from least,
we are hard at work on the NEW University
of Regina Kin Club. The acting executive has been appointed, the
application to be a campus club has been sent in and the first meeting has been
scheduled. It will be January 12, 2010
at 7:00pm on the 6th floor of the Education Building.
Please
contact me for the exact location AND if you have any interested people. Membership is not limited to U of R students,
so anyone is welcome!
As
Christmas approaches, I wish each and every member of my Kin family a joyous
and warm holiday season filled with laughter and pleasant surprises. Please be safe, please enjoy your time with
family, and please let the spirit of Christmas surround you. When I count my blessings, I am humbled by
their abundance. I am blessed to live in
this beautiful country surrounded by family and friends, I am blessed to have
the opportunity to serve my community’s greatest need, and we are all blessed
with abundance, safety and each other.
Yours in
Kin
Corie
Governor,
D3
